AUTO1 Group Price Index shows lowest used car price level in more than two years

Berlin, 1st March 2024 - The AUTO1 Group Price Index shows only a slight decrease of 0.6% in used car prices moving from 142.0 in January 2024 to 141.2 in February 2024. According to the European Used Car Price Report this is the lowest price level since September 2021 (144.6). The index showed that wholesale used car prices barely fluctuated in 2023, but dropped in January this year (-3.3%).
Year over year, used car wholesale prices decreased by 5.3%, with the index moving from 149.1 in February 2023 to 141.2 in February of this year. Although used car prices decreased year over year, they are still 22.6% higher than before the COVID-19 pandemic compared to February 2019 with a value of 115.2.
