Embracing Inclusivity During the European Week for the Employment of People with Disabilities
17 January 2024
At AUTO1 Group, we understand the importance of continuing to be a workplace that celebrates diversity and fosters inclusivity. For the 2023 European Week for the Employment of People with Disabilities (SEEPH), our French office engaged in several activities aimed at enhancing understanding and integration within our teams.
Raising Awareness of Workplace Diversity with AKTISEA
AUTO1 Group France partnered with disability policy development firm AKTISEA to educate our colleagues on the complexities of diversity in the workplace and to continue to promote a culture where dialogue about disabilities is normalized. One of the engaging ways we brought this conversation to life was through the Handipoursuite game - a digital quiz designed by Agefiph and facilitated by AKTISEA. We invited our teams to participate in this educational competition, answering questions to earn points and learn more about disability and diversity. The game proved effective in raising awareness and fostering a more inclusive mindset among our colleagues.
Opening Doors and Minds for DuoDay 2023
We also took part in the DuoDay initiative, opening our doors to individuals with disabilities who were interested in experiencing a day-in-the-life at AUTO1 Group. We paired these individuals with our colleagues who volunteered to share their workday in various departments, such as production, administration, and sales. This initiative was a valuable exchange, offering insights into potential career paths and experiences that enriched both our guests and our teams.
Knowledge Through Sport
Furthering our commitment to inclusion, we hosted an event with amputee football players from Paris FC Handifoot, including Hamza Lmouddene, David Mendes, and Yanis Dumas. In collaboration with KS Academy, the day featured interactive workshops and friendly football matches between the athletes and our colleagues. It highlighted the role of sports in promoting team spirit and fostering an inclusive work environment.
"Diversity and inclusivity are at the heart of our values at AUTO1 Group - we believe in providing equal opportunities for all. We are honored to host the football players at our offices. This event is not just about playing a football game, but about promoting inclusivity, understanding, and respect among our employees,” states Manutea Dupont, Vice President and Managing Director of AUTO1 Group France.
One of the organizers for the week, Juliette Pierre, our internal Junior Communications Manager in France, expressed, "The week, entirely centered on disability in the workplace, proved to be a tremendous success. The quality of the activities and speakers significantly deepened our colleagues’ understanding and appreciation of disability."
We are dedicated to fostering an even more diverse and inclusive workplace. We firmly believe that these principles are a cornerstone of remaining a vibrant and forward-thinking organization.
